A 4th generation Coloradoan, I was born in Ft. Collins and was raised outside Littleton. My dad got a job in the copper mines in South America when I was seven. There I caught the travel bug. I lived in Poland during the revolutions of the 1980's, and traveled throughout Europe. Later I began teaching Western Civ and explored the ruins of Rome. More recently I've developed an interest in Islam and spent a month in India on a National Endowment of the Humanities grant. Education: This summer (2011) I completed an M.Ed. in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at Regis University. I also hold a Ph.D. from Columbia University in Russian and Polish history and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
Pets: I have two very large aging dogs, Buffington and Sasha, two cats, Gracie and Trotskii, a tank full of neon blue fish, and two frogs named Ferenc and Fred. Ferenc and Fred aren't very conversational, but they do have a certain amphibious charm. Hobbies: In New York, I volunteered to sew costumes for an amateur opera company in Soho and spent some time leading a 4-H group in gardening projects on the roofs of Manhattan. Now, I occupy my spare time taking digital photos. I'm an avid gardener and in the spring I decorate pysanky (link here for info on this hobby)
